Property details
Lovely grade II listed property built around 1750, extended in 1890s and again in 1970s. The main structure is formed of stone and rendered in lime. The two extensions are built of brick. The structure in the cellar is thought to be Tudor.
What changes have you made to your home?
We have done a huge renovation and retrofit of the house over the last few years. In the 1970s the Council converted the property into five flats with lots of stud walls so we removed all of them and turned it back into the original house. The only heating was electric storage heaters so we removed them and installed a Mitsubishi air source heat pump with a full set of radiators. Just recently I’ve been experimenting using an underfloor heating system vertically against a thick stone wall – it works beautifully!
What have been the benefits to you and your home?
The house is much more comfortable. It can be heated to an adequate level where we can use all rooms during cold periods.
