Property details:

Brick with cavity walls, pitched tiled roof.

Built circa 1970

No mains gas.

Original oil boiler when we moved in (1983)

What changes have been made:  

2005 - Fitted Clearview log stove into lounge open fireplace 

2008 - Fitted B&Q wind turbine April 2008, removed Aug 2009.

2010 - Replaced oil boiler with Clearview Log stove in kitchen plus solar thermal plus thermal store.  Retro fitted back boilers to both log stoves and piped into the thermal store.  Under RHI grant

2011 - Fitted 4kw PV on roof.  Including Immersun smart switch for the immersion heater.  Started receiving maximum feed in tariff. 

2015 - Fitted direct electric water heater to the CH system to use if we were unable or too old to burn the log stoves.

So at that point. in the summer, hot water came from the solar PV and solar thermal.  In the winter heating and hot water came from the 2 log stoves.  Backed up by direct electric, only used occasionally, very expensive to run!!

March 2020 - Purchase EV Renault Zoe with Zappi smart charger linked to the solar.

August 2020 - Fitted 4kW energy storage batteries (half price deal with Ecotricity)

2021 - Fitted heat pump for the central heating only. Removed the direct electric water heater.  RHI grant.  Continue with solar and log stoves for hot water.
