Property details
1960s brick cavity-built bungalow 3 bedrooms, an office, studio, kitchen and living room.
What changes have been made?
When we moved into the bungalow in 2015, we took out the oil-fired Rayburn, the radiators and the night storage heaters. We installed new floors and underfloor insulation throughout our home - 4" Kingspan between joists. Aided by grant, the loft was insulated with 8" thick Rockwool. A 6kW solar photovoltaic (PV) panel array was also fitted. In 2019, the 6 original metal framed double glazed windows were replaced. A wood burner was installed in the living room and 4 infrared heating panels were fitted, 3 of which on the kitchen ceiling, the other in the bathroom. An EO home charging system for our electric vehicle (EV) was fitted with the assistance of a grant. In January 2021, we installed a 5kW Moiza battery and switched to Octopus Energy. Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) were fitted in autumn 2023.
What have been the benefits to you and your home?
Our home is now cheaper and easier to run whilst also being warmer and more comfortable.
